For our model of the atom we decided to keep Schrödinger's model. There were a number of reasons for doing this, but I'll highlight the most important ones. The first is that he knows more about chemistry than anyone in our group. That alone should tell us that he is more likely to be right about it than we are. Also he had the shell model. This allows for variation in the location of electrons but it's not random. It also allows for the energy levels of electrons to be different which we know happens but it didn't really play a role in a model until Schrödinger published his model. He also expounded on the ideas of quantum physics and particle waves.
